Preface
With the booming economy of China and ever-changing of the creative industry, creative design has been showing more and more importance in every aspects in the economy development. The creative economy is adding fresh energy to the development of China’s new economy. It is creative design talents that form the productivity of the creative industry. It is designers who support the future of China’s creative design industry. Against the financial crisis, the Central Committee raised to “keep growing, promote developing, for the people's livelihood”. Facing the strategic opportunity of developing a creative country, how could China train creative design talents according to the development of the industry? It is an austere challenge that we are encountering. The growth of a designer is involved in school-education and enterprise development. The schools of creative design are cradles of designers, while design enterprises are the accelerators for the growth of designers. The development of enterprises helps designers go ahead. Hence, the training of designers is a common obligation of both design schools and design enterprises.
But with the ever-increase in student-recruiting by specialties related to art design within colleges, each year more than 100,000 students graduate from “art design” specialty within nearly 2000 colleges around the country and step into society. When those students stepped out the door of colleges, they found it was hard to enter the door of enterprises. Along with the creasing influence imposed by the global finance crisis on China’s economy, the situation of university-graduates’ employment seems even worse.
What should it be like during the growth of a designer? And what kind of role should colleges and enterprises play during the growth of a designer?
What kind of design specialty from which the students tend to be welcomed
by enterprises?
What kind of design talents do enterprises need?
What blocks the communications between design colleges and enterprises?
How should design colleges and enterprises communicate?
How could enterprises take part in the producing-training-researching combination
and training-in-practice?
What kind of social responsibilities should enterprises take in the training
of design talents?
How should we look on the relation between designers’ training and enterprises’
development?
What could an excellent designer or a designer’s team benefit enterprises?
Along with the great development of China’s creative industry which is under the background of the global economic crisis, together in the circumstance of the hard situation of college-graduates’ employment, “ China Design Education & Enterprise Development Summit” hopes to discuss the opportunities and challenges we face with people from every aspects of design industry. We expect to build a platform that schools of design, enterprises and designers could communicate effectively. We wish to clarify the thoughts to settle the problems by talking and listening from every aspects and viewpoints. In the meanwhile, we hope the summit provide references to the training of China’s creative design talents.
